Great news for law school aspirants: starting August 2023, the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) will be administered in-person again! As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) to administer the LSAT remotely, using Proctor U’s online proctoring services. However, starting from August 2023, the LSAT will be administered by Prometric Educational Testing Services. The most exciting part is that test-takers will have the choice to take the LSAT at a testing center or continue taking it online. The Return of In-Person Testing
As a precautionary measure during the COVID-19 pandemic, LSAC ceased administering the LSAT at test centers. Although the remotely proctored LSAT has been highly successful, we know some test takers would welcome a chance to take their LSAT in person at a test center. This change comes as a response to test-taker feedback, with LSAC aiming to give candidates the choice of whichever option works best for them.
Starting with the August 2023 LSAT, most test takers will have the choice of whether to take the test at home, proctored by a live, remote proctor, or in person at a Prometric digital testing center. The Online Testing Option
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, LSAC moved quickly to offer the live, remotely proctored LSAT. This allowed for more than 100,000 law school aspirants to continue their legal education journeys. Since May 2020, LSAT takers have expressed their preference to keep the live, remotely proctored test as an option. Through Prometric, LSAC will continue to offer the LSAT in a live, remotely proctored format for the 2023-2024 testing year.
This online testing option allows for greater accessibility and convenience for test-takers who may not have easy access to a testing center or prefer to take the exam in the comfort of their own homes. The online LSAT will continue to have the same format and scoring as the in-person version, ensuring a fair and consistent experience for all test-takers.

Registration and Choosing Your Testing Option
Registration for the August 2023 through June 2024 administrations will open in mid-May. Most test takers can choose whether to test in person or remotely — whichever option works best for them.
